As some of you may already know, Wordpress 2.5 just came out today. The new administration interface really looked cool so I had to try it out.
This blog has been running on Wordpress 2.3 so upgrading was really easy. I just followed the upgrade instructions from Wordpress.org.
I was kinda scared that it would break all my plugins but for the most part it didn’t. The only plugin that I wasn’t able to reactivate was the Popularity Contest from Alex King. Fortunately there’s an easy fix for this plugin which you find here.
Using the new interface can be confusing at first but you’ll get around pretty soon. The visual editor now has the possibility to insert audio and video files in your posts. I’ve encountered a problem with the image insertion so I hope they’re gonna release a fix for this soon.
So if you wanna try out Wordpress 2.5, head over to http://www.wordpress.org. Don’t forget to backup your database and files before you upgrade.

How did you upgrade ?
using one click fantastico or manually ?
And any changes theme needed ?

I upgraded it manually, I didn’t use Fantastico to install Wordpress initially.
I didn’t need to change the theme although I’ve had a little problem with the Popularity Contest plugin.
