Netcraft, an Internet services firm based in Bath, England, recently published its Top 10 List of Most Reliable Web Hosting Companies.
Figuring prominently at the number two spot was iWeb Technologies, which appears in Netcraft’s monthly top ten list on a regular basis. iWeb was just one of four hosting companies ranked which experienced no failed requests at all in the ranking test analysis. The other three hosting companies with no failed requests were Datapipe, Codero, and Multacom.
Among the top four, ranking is set by connect time, with iWeb ranking second behind Datapipe. iWeb, in business for ten years, has established a solid reputation in the hosting community, offering an impressive menu of services that includes both shared and dedicated hosting accounts, and managed hosting services.
Netcraft is an Internet security services firm that provides research on Internet services, and data on provider market share. Netcraft measures response times and other metrics of forty of the top hosting provider companies. Metrics are established by taking readings at fifteen minute intervals from multiple points around the Internet, providing an accurate and useful reading of a hosting company’s reliability.
Several metrics are recorded to establish ranking, including outages, failed requests, and connect time. The primary metric however, is the percentage of failed requests, which is more relevant than the outages metric from the customer perspective, and provides more valid information about reliability of routing. After an initial ranking by number of failed requests, the secondary sort is by average connect time.
