HostGator Takes A Bite Out Of Austin

May 27th, 2010 · No Comments

Hostgator Moves to Austin, TXHostGator, one of the biggest, feature-packed and reliable hosting companies in the world, has made a move from its Houston, TX headquarters, to Austin, TX. We’re sure the HostGator staff will enjoy their new home in the “Live Music Capital of the World”!

The HostGator people say the move was because they ran out of space in Houston, but we suspect the staff are just music fans and anxious to take advantage of the incredible music festivals and live venues that give this city its unique character.

But if it’s space they wanted, they got it, with a new 102,000 square foot facility on the east side. According to HostGator’s company blog, they have already gotten started on getting the new office up and running, and they reassure us that there will be no downtime as a result of the transition, and support will continue 24/7 during the entire transition.

Back when they first moved to their Houston facility, much of the staff actually stayed in the office for a few months while they were getting up and running, and they hope to do the same in Austin (so long as zoning permits). They will set up a tent city for employees to tide them over until they get new digs, and the dynamic founder and chairman Brent Oxley himself will be part of the huge corporate camp-out.

The plan calls to be established in Austin by the end of July, which is an ambitious goal, given the blog’s pictures of huge empty rooms-but we have faith that they can get the job done. And by the way, if you’re in Austin and looking for a job, this would be the place to look! There will be about 400 to 500 employees in all at the new headquarters. The data center itself will stay with theplanet.

The move is a good deal for customers, too, since it means the company will be better staffed-and you’ll get your queries and trouble tickets answered on an even more timely basis than before.
