Green Hosting Firm GreenGeeks is Now Running CloudLinux Technology

GreenGeeks Now Running CloudLinux TechnologyGreenGeeks, a leading provider of green hosting services, has just announced that they are running CloudLinux technology on all of their servers.

The new CloudLinux technology allows them to isolate individual customers into a “virtual segment” allowing GreenGeeks to identify an “abusive user” who is exceeding their allotted computing resources.

When such users are identified, their account can be slowed down in order to prevent service interruptions, slow downs or complete outages for other customers while those customers who are not offending the resource usage will be able to continue operating as normal.

GreenGeeks was quick to point out that over 99% of their customer base will never come close to their resource limits. However, the company still wants to be able to maintain a hosting environment that will allow customers to have spikes in traffic that will not impact everyone else. For customers who in turn see slowdowns, it will either mean that they need to better optimize their plan or upgrade it to something more suitable for the amount of resources being utilized. Otherwise, these customers will need to accept that slowdowns can occur due to a sudden spike in demand.

In addition, it should also be noted that all of GreenGeeks’ customers will be able to track their resource usage by simply clicking on the resource usage icon in their cPanel. Likewise, customers can also view their quick stats on the left hand side. Hence, there should be no surprises should a GreenGeeks’ hosting customer see a sudden slowdown in their service during a spike in usage.
