Go Daddy, the world’s largest web hosting provider, is underlining a commitment to providing the best customer service without outsourcing by going back to the roots of CEO and founder Bob Parsons.
The company has bought the building where Parsons Technology started 15 years ago at 1 Parsons Drive in Hiawatha, near Cedar Rapids, IA, and plans to hire 60 new staff and turn the building in to a customer care center over the next few weeks.
The new center will house up to 500 staff in a scheduled expansion over the next few months.
Go Daddy has had offices in Cedar Rapids for almost nine years already with staff working in marketing, development, legal and business intelligence, who are set to join the customer care employees at the new office.
“I’m back baby,” Parsons said. “We bought this building because it made business sense, but I’ll admit it’s nice to get back to 1 Parsons Drive.”
The 50,000-square-foot office space is big enough for further expansion, and based on recent company trading, that will be important in the near future.
Last year, to manage 7.5 million worldwide customers, Go Daddy expanded facilities in Arizona and opened a data center in the Netherlands. The company also has headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona, and offices at nearby Tempe and Gilbert.
Go Daddy switched horses and now does not outsource or offshore any of the 1,500 customer care positions. Keeping those employees in-house ensures Go Daddy closely manages customer support, which is considered an important factor in the web hosting industry.
Almost another 1,000 employees handle technical roles and administration.
Iowa customer care positions go online in February. People with a passion for technology can apply at http://www.godaddy.com/jobs
“We know people like to communicate on the Internet, they like to play games and even shop online. But when it comes to learning things, like how to create a web site for example, people much prefer to talk to a person,” Parsons said.
The company was voted one of the best to work for and is well-known for offering massive employee-perks like paid-for holidays, mortgages and throwing extravagant staff parties.
