cPanel Has Partnered With CloudLinux

cPanel Has Partnered With CloudLinuxOn May 2 cPanel, the Windows and Linux hosting control panel company, publically announced that they have partnered up with the OS developer CloudLinux. This is one of the very first such partnerships that cPanel has, as yet, entered into.

As they stated in the press release announcing the partnership, they believe that it will allow Partner NOCs as well as customers to have pay-per-use software delivery. This will be “structured to provide on-demand licenses that are synchronized with the current cPanel license model.”

As the cPanel vice president of operations, Aaron Phillips, put it “After careful consideration, testing, and a review of features and benefits, we feel CloudLinux offers a unique opportunity for web hosting companies to increase uptime, stability, and performance on their servers.”

One of the main reasons why they have chosen to partner with CloudLinux is the company’s so-called Lightweight Virtual Environment (LVE), the latest version of which was launched in February 2011. This is the core technology of CloudLinux and the number one reason why they are so sought after by hosting providers. Through using LVE, web administrators can now easily control the “CPU demands of individual tenants so a single site cannot slow or take down an entire server.” Being kernel level technology, LVE is also transparent and very lightweight, which just adds to its attractiveness.

Furthermore, CloudLinux is also able to monitor resource spikes, as well as contain them when they arise. This also means that server resources no longer need to be left idle. And apart from this, this partnership will also provide integrated single source support.
