Just Bought a 2nd VPS from FutureHosting.com

August 17th, 2009

After going through several minor crashes with current VPS due to high traffic, I finally got to buy a second one from FutureHosting. While a powerful dedicated server would’ve solved the performance issue, I rather have multiple VPS servers than only one dedicated server.

This time around, I bought the Managed Elite cPanel VPS (for less than $60 per month when using the FutureHosting Coupon Code 10LIFE when checking out). The Elite VPS has 40GB of disk space, 768MB of RAM (which I upgraded to 1024MB), 2 IP addresses (upgraded to 4 IPs) and it’s fully managed. While I can technically handle the task of managing my own servers, I found that getting a managed VPS gets a lot of pressure off my back, especially when I’m not available to handle server issues.

Since I already had a server located in FutureHosting’s Dallas data center, I chose to host my second VPS in Washington, DC. I would’ve preferred Seattle but it was sold out unfortunately.

So I’m going back at configuring my new VPS and moving some websites. I’ll let you know how things are going with my “new toy” soon.
