Customers who need the highest levels of availability and reliability from their dedicated and virtual servers got some good news today. 1&1 Internet, a global web hosting company, is now the first to have a global launch of dedicated servers with six-core AMD processors. The new move delivers some of the most powerful performance of any hosting company, and provides the company’s customers with incredibly high availability and reliability.
The company’s server portfolio now has two additional premium models that can be used as web or application servers. The new units, according to an independent benchmark study, offer 47 percent more performance than even the best Quad-Core models.
While such power is less of a concern for those who run ordinary static web sites, customers who run resource-intensive applications must pay careful attention to the equipment on which those applications are hosted. Preserving uptime as well as minimizing latency is essential to many such environments, such as distributed computing, data processing, and online gaming; and the six-core platform will provide the best possible response.
The new servers are also energy-efficient, and are based on the High Efficiency version of the AMD Opteron series. The Hexa-Core processors use 55 watts average CPU power and 79 watts TDP thermal design power.
The dedicated servers run from $499.99 a month for the Hexa-Core XXL; to $599.99 a month for the flagship Hexa-Core 3XL, with two AMD Hexa-Core Opteron 2423 CPUs, 32GB of RAM, RAID 5 redundancy, and 2TB of disk space.
If you need the power, now is the time to take 1&1 up on their offer. In March and April, 1&1 is offering the first six months at half off with a 12 month commitment.
