How to List User Accounts with cPanel / WHM

January 5th, 2010 · No Comments

A reseller or system administrator may occasionally be required to view, modify, or assist a user; the List Accounts area in WHM (Web Host Manager) is an invaluable tool to assist a reseller.

If you’re new to reselling or dedicated servers, I suggest you read what is the difference between cPanel and WHM before going any further.

Accessing the List Accounts Area in WHM

  1. Log in to the WebHost Manager (WHM)
  2. Click the Account Information icon
  3. Click the List Accounts icon

On the Accounts page, you can perform several functions:

  • Change user’s password and/or contact email
    • Click on the [+] next to the domain/user you would like to modify to reveal the Change Password: and Change Contact Email: section
    • Enter the new password and/or the new email address and click the Change button
  • View the user’s website
    • In the Domain column, click the URL listed to open the user’s website in a new window.
  • Log in as the user
    • In the cPanel column, click the cPanel logo to log in as that user
    • When logged in as the user, you will have new information on the cPanel page that a normal user will not see: a message in the Notices window that you are logged in as “reseller or root” and a drop-down box to select other accounts:
  • Edit contact email address
    • Editable fields have the Edit icon () when you mouse over the row. You can change the contact email address by clicking on the Edit icon in the account list.
    • The Change Contact Email page opens. Enter the new contact email address and then click the Save Email button.
  • Upgrade the user’s package
    • Editable fields have the Edit icon () when you mouse over the row. You can upgrade or downgrade the user’s package by clicking the Edit icon in the Package column.
    • On the Upgrade/Downgrade Account screen, available upgrades or downgrades are listed for each user. Note that in some cases, no upgrades will be available so none will be listed.
    • Select the package to upgrade or downgrade and click the Upgrade/Downgrade button.
