Found your guidelines on Google. I'm trying to install Centos on VMware server (free version) 1.0.6.
The host machine is a Dell Latitude 630 with 3GB memory. The host OS is Windows Vista Business edition. When creating the VM it was necessary to click the OK button, and not the Cancel button, on the VMware Server Console with the local host option selected to enable the File>New>Virtual Machine menu option. For some reason it is disabled by default on the VMWare server install.
The VM has CD-ROM set to auto detect and the ethernet set to NAT.
