How To Setup Your Website With Dreamweaver - Part IIJuly 17th, 2008 · No Comments
In the first part of this tutorial you’ve seen how to structure your folders and how to define a new site with Dreamweaver CS3. Now that we’ve got this part working, we’re now going to create a web page and upload it to our web server. Before going any further, you must know that default web page file must be named index.html, index.htm or index.php (remember we’re talking about cPanel hosting). So from Dreamweaver’s main menu, click on File => New. You will be prompted to choose a type of document. Select the HTML page type and no layout as shown below:
This will bring you an empty web page. Notice the three buttons at the top of this window:
These will allow you to switch between the code or design or even show both. Click on the Split button. Now in the design view editor, just enter some text like “hello world” (click to enlarge image): From the main menu, click on File => Save and name the newly created page “index.html”:
From the file navigation panel, select index.html and click on the blue arrow to upload it to your web server:
Now unless you have an error message, you file should’ve been uploaded to your web server correctly. Open your web browser to the root of your website and you should be greeted with a “Hello World!”. I have seen lots of questions on forums I thought I’d answer here:
