cPanel - How To Create a MySQL DatabaseOne of the most common step in installing a web application is to create a MySQL database. And while the process may seem simple to most experienced users, a lot of people can struggle with it.

So for all the cPanel users out there who don’t know how to create a MySQL database properly, here’s how to do it once and for all!

For this tutorial, I’ve used my HostPapa account so your cPanel layout may differ a little from mine.

How To Create a MySQL Database With cPanel

Start by logging in cPanel (this is usually at http://www.yourwebsite.com:2082). Click on the MySQL Databases icon from the Databases panel.

Now enter a name for your database in the New Database textbox and hit Create Database.

On the next page, cPanel should confirm you that the database has been created. Click on the Go Back link to return to the MySQL Databases page.

Even though the database has been created, we’re not done yet. We now need to create a user account who will be able to access the newly created database. Enter a username and password in the MySQL Users form and click the Create User button.

cPanel should now say that the user have created successfully. Click on the Go Back link to get back to the MySQL Databases page.

Now the last step is to grant the user access to the database. Select the newly created user and database from the drop down menus at the bottom and hit the Add button.

On the next page, click the All Privileges checkbox at the top and hit Make Changes.

You’re now done! Simply note down the database name, username, password and database host in order to configure your next web application with a MySQL backend.
