When you’re shopping for a fast and reliable web host, looking at how long a company has been in the business can tell you a lot.
But sometimes Cheap Web Hosting Companies such as Just Host can take the web hosting market by storm. While it may be considered as a rookie, Just Host is highly reliable web host who has quickly acquired a huge customer base over the last few months.
On the other hand, there are these web hosting veterans like GoDaddy who have started as a domain name registrar and expanded into various Web Hosting branches to become a monster in the industry.
It is a good idea to compare both web hosts so that you know what are the differences between them.
First of all, it depends on which type of hosting you are looking for. As opposed to GoDaddy, Just Host specializes in shared web hosting only. Therefore, if you’re looking for a VPS or a Dedicated Server, move ahead because JustHost ain’t offering it.
But if you’re looking for Website Hosting, then here is a GoDaddy / Just Host comparison grid that may help you decide:
| Just Host | GoDaddy Economy Plan | |
|---|---|---|
| Disk Space | Unlimited | 10 GB |
| Bandwidth | Unmetered | 300 GB |
| PHP, Perl, CGI | Yes | Yes (w/ Deluxe Plan only) |
| Ruby on Rails | Yes | No |
| MySQL Databases | Yes | Yes |
| Control Panel | cPanel | Custom |
| Script Installer | Fantastico Deluxe | GoDaddy Hosting Connection |
| Toll Free Number | Yes | No |
| 24/7 Support | Yes | Yes |
| AdWords Voucher | $25 | $20 |
| YSM Voucher | $25 | n/a |
| Microsoft adCenter Credit | n/a | $25 |
| Facebook Ad Credit | n/a | $50 |
| Miva Merchant Ad Credits | $25 | n/a |
| Price Range | $3.45 / mo. | $5.90 / mo. |
Both web hosts will give you a lot for your money. But aside features, I would strongly recommend Just Host over GoDaddy.
Here’s why:
So go ahead and give Just Host a try. They’ve got a 30-Day Moneyback guarantee anyway so you got nothing to lose!

Not quite sure where you got your information about Godaddy shared hosting, because it does not match what I see. My shared hosting account there has 300Gb disk limit (and you can dynamically add on more), not 10Gb as mentioned, and both Ruby and Ruby on Rails IS supported on my Linux account.

The information found is based on the GoDaddy’s Economy Plan, which offers 10 GB of disk space and no support for Ruby on Rails.
GoDaddy offers more disk space as well as RoR support on the Deluxe and Unlimited plans only.

Yeah sure go right ahead with Justhost but unless you plan you website to be very low on traffic prepare for the following otherwise:

A screenshot of my website and the way it has been for the last 4 days, it’s reputation now ruined and little sign of justhost being prepared to help rectify the situation.
All this because I used a WHOLE 17gb bandwidth in 1 month, yes thats right I did say 17gb!
Pathetic, my advice is steer WELL clear of justhost because they simply “canthost”

@lagerassassin : Was your account suspended because your website stream2watch.net was broadcasting illegal content and the FIA Formula One World Championship had issued a legal threat against Just Host?
I think that would be a fair reason isn’t it?

I’ve been with JustHost for about 5 months, and to tell you the truth, it’s been pretty good. When I first signed up, I wasn’t sure if it was going to be reliable and fast, but as it turns out, it’s been very good on both fronts. My sites don’t have a whole lot of traffic on them but I do have 5 sites on one account right now. I use it mainly to show a client what progress I’m making on their site (pre-production). Once it goes to production, I ask the client to sign up for their own account with whomever they want.
Thx,
Calvin

@The Web Hosting Hero:
How could you possibly know about the legal threat?

@Billy Bob : we verify comments and user reviews as much as we can by contacting web hosting companies. Simple as that.
The rest of your comment has been removed since you didn’t provide a valid email address and website.

I just stumbled upon Just Host recently and I’m thinking of making the switch. Are they a legit company? Do they offer mailing lists as part of the unlimited package?
Thanks for the info!

I have hosting accounts in Godaddy, Justhost and Dreamhost.
I feel that justhost and dreamhost are slow compared to Godaddy. Since they are dam cheap we can compromise a bit.

Love JustHosts service and your right, they do, by far exceed in service and cost.
Fast servers, reliable staff there all the time! And they do offer Facebook credits to us custys. I love the fact this website responds or comments on your comments! So many people are either stupid/unfair in there allegations when they do these things wrong themselves!
Well i love my service! Msssk, Simples

I use justhost to host my game in php. It has been wonderful. I used to use godaddy, but the hosting fees were more expensive, and I was getting downtime and lag. I have not had a single issue since I have switched to justhost. My game located at http://www.wereatwar.com has zero lag if you want to check it out and see what good hosting for a large site, with multiple daily users is like. We have a high bandwidth usage and still have not had any troubles.

I’ve been using Justhost for 1 year, and I think there are many drawbacks as well.
1. Godaddy offers SSH connection for free, but with Justhost, you have to pay $20 / year.
2. Justhost also has 10% resource limit, so if you go over than that, your account will be just blocked.
3. 64MB PHP Memory Limits is too small, if you try to make a thumbnail of 2Mbyte file, PHP will just crash with “Memory Limits exceeded”
4. Justhost also slower than Godaddy in terms of response time
As Justhost is little cheaper than Godaddy, it is suitable for the beginners who doesn’t need SSH, and only has few visitors,, and no need of uploading functions in their site.

Good point KEfd. However I think that if someone needs things such as SSH access and higher memory limit, they are probably ready for a VPS or a dedicated server.

I would also like to recommend Hostgator or Webhostinghub over JustHost and GoDaddy. You’ll get faster hosting and excellent support.
