InMotion Hosting and Yahoo! are two web hosts I have experienced. Ultimately I only kept my InMotion Hosting account as they’re a lot superior than Yahoo.
Let me explain you why.
- First of all, Yahoo’s hosting control panel is awful. Text menus only makes it totally unintuitive and hard to navigate through. InMotion Hosting on the other hand provide you with cPanel which is by far the best control panel ever.
- Yahoo! Web Hosting lacks a good script installer. Those who are less experienced in installing web applications will find Fantastico Deluxe (provided with InMotion Hosting’s plans) very useful as it provides over 40 popular scripts to install within a few clicks.
- Daily backups are not a luxury. Yahoo! Web Hosting only provides you with weekly backups. Depending on how often your website data is updated, a data loss can turn into a nightmare if you don’t have daily backups.
- You can only reach Yahoo’s customer support by phone. While this may be the preferred way for a lot of customers, there are times when you don’t want to wait on the phone. InMotion Hosting provides phone support, live chat, email support and a online helpdesk. All of this 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Yahoo’s servers aren’t as reliable and as fast as InMotion Hosting. Despite the fact that Yahoo is using the same architecture as their search engine and other websites, it seems as they just don’t cut it. A lot of downtimes were reported and performance is not consistent, making your website slow at times. InMotion Hosting provides you with Business Hosting Class plans, ensuring your website runs on high-end equipment in order to deliver the highest response time every time.
- Scalability. If your website ever gains popularity to a point where shared hosting isn’t enough, InMotion Hosting has virtual server and dedicated hosting plans to help your online business grow. Yahoo on the other has a single one-size-fits all hosting plan, forcing you to find another provider if your website begins to need too much resources.
- Yahoo is too expensive. Their single hosting plan sells for $11.95 (including a free domain name) whereas InMotion Hosting Business plans are available from only $6.95 to $18.95 per month (including a free domain name too). Plus you’ll get way more features with InMotion Hosting.
So do yourself a favor and save yourself from the pain of having to move your website to another web host later. Go with InMotion Hosting and you will not be deceived. Great hosting, great support and awesome features.
