@Milan: while I think it should have been HostPapa's responsability to make a backup before they performed an upgrade, it's up to the customers to make backup copies regularly.

Most of the people assume their web host makes backup everyday and it's not the case. Read "I Bet You Don't Have Any Backups of Your Website":

http://www.thewebhostinghero.com/articles/backup-your-website.html

The other thing is that if you have a business website, then get a real Business Hosting plan like those offered by InMotion Hosting. You'll get daily backups, business-class hardware, faster network, etc.

My client lost a database on hostpappa during the server upgrade hostpappa did. Their response was to the extent of "tough luck, we don't make backups"

I've been hosting a fixed gear / single speed bike blog - http://www.urbancyclechic.com on hostpapa for the last few months and am extremely happy with their prices, speed and reliability. Feel no reason to look anywhere else.

Hi Android,

I've already had an account for testing HostPapa.com and everything went great so I got another account with HostPapa.ca for a production website this time (I needed a host in Canada).

Their servers and network are very fast and I'm very satisfied. I'll post the website I'm developing when it's done.

HostGator has been good too but the server I was hosted on wasn't as fast that's for sure.

Very good review thank you. Now I just need to choose between hostgator and hostpapa. Maybe I'll take both and write a review :-)

I myself love hostgator.com The company I work for has all of their stuff on godaddy.com and it is the most confusing account management I have ever seen. The control panel is slow just like you mentioned! It took over 15 minutes to install Joomla, where my hostgator.com fantastic installs within seconds.

dodaddy.com = bad
