Both of these web host providers could qualify as monsters, HostMonster because of its name, and GoDaddy since it’s one of the most successful web hosting companies and domain name registration companies anywhere on the web.
You have probably heard of GoDaddy, the domain name champion successful enough to advertise at the 2009 Super Bowl. (But whose commercial was banned) However, what’s the deal with HostMonster? Is there service really superior to that of GoDaddy?
GoDaddy offers domain names as low as $1.99, as their flamboyant and media friendly website points out. However, their web hosting packages are slightly more expensive. An economy plan gets you 10 GB of storage and 300 GB of bandwidth for $4.99 a month. The Deluxe Plan gets you 150 GB and 1,500 GB of bandwidth for $6.99 a month. Finally, the unlimited plan gets you $14.99 a month for unlimited bandwidth and storage. You do have the option of saving some dollars and cents if you choose to prepay for anywhere from 3-36 months. However, savings will be limited to 15% or less, and will depend on which plan you choose.
HostMonster offers professional web hosting plans for as low as $4.95 a month. This is the final price without setup fees and with unlimited everything. Users can expect unlimited hosting space, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited domains, unlimited email addresses and a free domain forever. Users also get a free site builder, free site promotion, a one click installer for over 50 scripts, and most importantly a 99.9% uptime guarantee. HostMonster also prides itself on customer service. It offers telephone technical support with 24/7 non-outsourced support with very low hold times. What truly makes HostMonster unique is that they do not require any long term contracts for their low monthly price. There are no cancellation fees to worry about. Furthermore, the company sometimes runs special deals where the usual $6.95 a month rate is reduced to $5.95.
GoDaddy may be successful as a domain registrar. However, there have been plenty of negatives as to there web hosting packages. Options for economy plans are limited, and full-featured plans can be pricey. The GoDaddy custom control panel is fairly unpopular with webmasters. In comparison, HostMonster offers higher uptime and better technical support. GoDaddy’s economy package is actually chapter than HostMonster, but you will not have the unlimited features that HostMonster’s plan offers.
Last but not least, HostMonster is just as reliable and established as GoDaddy-in fact the company precedes the start of GoDaddy, being first founded in 1996. There’s not much point in arguing GoDaddy’s dominance in domain registrars (the $9.99 fee for popular names is the standard) but when it comes to web hosting packages HostMonster reigns supreme.

GoDaddy doesn’t do to well for hosting. It is slow at times (10 seconds to load a page on my site), and not working at all sometimes. I have heard better things, about HostMonster, among them, they use the way more popular cPanel, instead of Plesk, which is messed up, and harder to navigate.
I think that you should choose HostMonster, even though I am hosted on GoDaddy, I am not paying for the hosting, but if I was I would switch.

I use godaddy for my person stuff and hostmonster at work. Hostmonster has problems with going down all the time. The customer service is pretty horrible, i’ve called many times and my sites go down all the time. The connection with the database is very faulty. Your best bet would be go with godaddy, at least they have reliable customer service and will work with you on any problems you have.

Was checking to see how these two compared.
Been using Hostmonster since 9/2007.
No complaints on my part.
Few problems, but were mostly WordPress or my slips causing them.
So will stick by them.
