Choosing between BlueHost and Lunarpages is definitely not an easy choice. They are both two very good very web hosts which I had the chance to try.
BlueHost (review) has been in business since 1996 and they are now hosting over 675,000 domains. They’ve got a single one-size-fits-all hosting plan that is perfectly suited for personnal or small business websites.
As for Lunarpages (review), it is a family-owned company which started as a free web host in the late 90’s. Since then, Lunarpages has grown into one of the top tier web hosting firm offering a complete line of hosting products: Shared Hosting, Windows Hosting, Virtual Private Servers and Dedicated Servers.
So if you need more than a shared hosting account, no need to read further, go ahead with Lunarpages. But if you’re looking for a great cheap web host, read on!
From my experience, Lunarpages’ biggest flaw is their shared server speed. For the time I’ve hosted my website there, there were a lot of times where it was so slow that Wordpress would timeout. This would last only for short periods of fortunately but it became irritating.

Other than that, both Lunarpages and BlueHost pretty much offer the same features: PHP, Perl, CGI-BIN, Ruby on Rails and MySQL are all supported. cPanel is the control panel of choice here so you can’t go wrong with either host.
I’ve also had good support from both web hosts. I’ve tested Lunapages’ support through live chat and telephone and I’ve tried BlueHost’s phone support. They were both quick to answer, I didn’t wait more than 5 or 6 minutes.
The only reason I would recommend Lunarpages over BlueHost is scalability. Lunarpages gives you the possibility to move to either a VPS or a Dedicated Server if your website gets too demanding for a shared hosting environment.
Other than that, I recommend BlueHost over Lunarpages for the following reasons:
