Leo, you can install WordPress MU in any shared hosting server. You don’t need anything special, copy the files over the server, create a database, and run the installation until WP is installed. Unless your question was about the servers supporting the automatic WordPress MU installation.

I used both services for several years now and here are some comments. Bluehost has better customer support than inMotion, they offer the chat option which works great. My only concern about inMotion? they don’t have a good backup plan in place. If their web site goes down, all the sites hosted there goes down as well. It happened a couple of times, their server was down and there was not a way to contact support to request info about the downtime. Otherwise, the service is great and sites are always up and running. They also experienced a hacking problem recently compromising several web sites. Bluehost has more downtime problems, but at least I can reach support to check the status of the server. Price vs features? bluehost wins as they offer unlimited sites hosted under a single account while inmotion only allows 2.

BlueHost isn’t bad at all considering the price. But InMotion Hosting’s business hosting is much more robust although it’s a bit more expensive.

I use Bluehost, thinking of switching. Lately Bluehost has been fine, but a little slow. Site goes down more than i’d like. Customer support is excellent. Be warned: they will shut you down without warning if you post content they don’t like (porn, copyrighted material). It’s all spelled out in the terms, but who reads that?

I did send one of my friend to InMotion Hosting for his Communication business and he is indeed very satisfied so far. His website is still under construction though.

I am using InMotion business class hosting (shared server) for my web site, and they have been pretty good for me. Their customer service is excellent. I had a complaint about their MySql version, and they offered me right away to switch to another server that had an updated version. Besides that I haven’t had any issues.

I’ve got plenty of hosting accounts. This very website is hosted on a VPS from FutureHosting.biz

I’ve also got accounts with BlueHost, InMotion Hosting, HostPapa, IX Web Hosting and FatCow among others. The reason is that when I develop a website for a customer, it gives me the chance to try another web host so that’s why I’ve got so many.

InMotion offers 6 Domains in their Power Business Class hosting, while BlueHost offers unlimited. How much will InMotion charge for each additional domain?

I don’t know enough about the multi-user version of WordPress so I don’t know if it’s possible to install this on a shared hosting account.

I’d be tempted to say yes but you’d have to contact InMotion Hosting support.
