SuperbHosting, with data centers in Virginia and Washington State, have recently announced their new ‘managed dedicated server’ solution. This is a package of hosting services aimed at companies looking to reduce IT costs and improve efficiencies.
SuperbHosting’s well positioned to handle increased business from corporate customers. They’ve a coast-to-coast Gigabit Ethernet-based network infrastructure that offers a 100% network uptime SLA and multiple peering points with Tier 1 Internet backbones.
According to SuperbHosting’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Dale Bunten, “…we are seeing heavy demand for our outsourced IT services despite the economic downturn.”
The managed dedicated server solution builds on this enterprise-class network infrastructure by offering IT managers six important benefits:
1) Dedicated Technical Account Manager:
This person advises on a managed hosting customer’s system architecture needs, provides server hardware and software recommendations and is responsible for making sure support tickets are escalated and dealt with promptly.
2) Proactive Monitoring:
Customers can choose a range of ports to be automatically monitored in real time and have notifications sent when problems are detected. In addition, they can also have access to real-time monitoring of server information such as CPU usage, memory usage, and average load.
3) Managed Backup:
SuperbHosting backs up Linux and Windows servers using R1Soft’s Continuous Data Protection (CDP) technology. They handle the setup and operation of automated daily backups and also include a ‘bare metal’ data restore in the unlikely case of a complete server failure. Backup of MySQL databases and offsite archiving of important data are available as optional services.
For customers with large amounts of backup data or multiple servers, SuperbHosting also offers a dedicated backup server option, in which backup data is transferred on a separate, fully redundant back-end network. This means that the customer’s bandwidth quota is not reduced because of large backup data traffic. The backup traffic is also physically apart from network traffic to their production servers.
4) Managed Firewall:
This fully managed security service is a monthly option available to servers hosted in Superb’s Springfield (VI), Data Center. The purpose is to protect customers against unauthorized and possibly hostile intrusions. The service is set up and monitored by security engineers and includes packet filters in the form of access control lists.
5) OS Hardening:
For a one-time fee per server, this service allows a customer to have their managed servers’ operating systems ‘locked down’ and made more secure than the standard ‘off-the-shelf’ configurations.
6) Patches and Updates:
Keeping a managed dedicated server fully patched to protect against the latest viruses, trojans, worms and other exploits, is a ‘de-facto’ requirement for business customers. Failing to do so can lead to very embarrassing and commercially damaging outcomes.
Taken together, these six services provide a truly ‘best-in-class’ solution for business customers requiring high levels of server performance, security, reliability and availability.
And for a limited time SuperbHosting’s running a special offer on their range of managed dedicated servers – including web servers, application servers, database servers and high performance servers.
