With the increasing popularity of blogs all over the web (what is a blog?), it’s no wonder why so many people are trying to start their own blog. It’s a great and easy way to communicate, build a community or manage your website content.
There are a lot of free blog hosting services out there that allow you to easily put your own blog online like Blogger.com and WordPress.com
The thing with those free blogs is that you’re kind of limited in which aspects of it you can customize. Also for most of them, they don’t allow you to use your own domain name and unique IP address.
But why would I want my own domain name?
Because if you’re want to be serious about your blog (ie.: getting a lots of visitors, monetizing it, etc.), you’ll want your blog to have a unique and appealing name. And you’ll want your domain name to reflect this. If the URL to your website is something like amateurblogger.wordpress.com, chances are you’ll never be taken seriously.
Instead you want to have your own domain name like www.thegreatestblogger.com
And domain names are cheap, you can easily get one for as low as $6.95 a year so there’s no reason not to have one.
And what is this thing about the unique IP address?
Every website has an IP address, it’s like the phone number next to your name in your local phonebook. But not all websites has a unique IP address, it could be shared among multiple websites.
The problem with a shared IP address is that it will affect your website’s ranking in the SERP (Search Engine Result Page). In other words less people will find your website on Google, Yahoo or Live Search.
But I don’t know how to setup my own blog!
While running a blog isn’t that complicated, installing it may be a little more difficult. Sure you can install a WordPress blog with the default settings and all but there’s a lot more you can do with it.
If you sign up for a web hosting account from this page, I will setup your own personnal blog myself. This blog installation includes:
So don’t any longer, this offer can be ended without prior notice!
