SingleHop (www.singlehop.com), the managed web hosting service provider, released SnapShield, a new firewall product.
The on demand firewall system is priced in such a manner that it allows small and medium sized organizations to deploy a Cisco-powered firewall at affordable prices without the need to use a dedicated exclusive hardware firewall.
The launch of SnapShield enhances the on demand features of LEAP, a server management desktop system that can be accessed online through iPhone, Blackberry and Android. Virtualization and administration possibilities on the network level ensure that SnapShield does not require any rewiring, installation, management or maintenance by the client; a feature that allows for significant cost savings for the client. Since it is aligned with LEAP, customers can have seamless and direct control of their new SnapShield firewall management system too.
According to President and CEO, Zak Boca the LEAP server management software was initially designed to allow better control and flexibility to SingleHop clients. He believes that with the addition of the SnapShield on demand firewall feature, LEAP has now become server management software that is unparalleled in the industry. He is also quick to state that SnapShield allows the firewall deployment to take place in minutes as against the days that it used to take earlier.
SingleHop’s latest data center in Elk Grove Village, northwest of downtown Chicago hosts the on demand firewall system. Powered by Cisco, SingleHop’s on demand firewall includes a range of features like application awareness, IPsec, SSL, VPN, automatic virus scan and protection from intrusion, spam and phishing.
Currently, the on demand firewall system SnapShield is being offered coupled with the LEAP desktop option. SingleHop envisages that the mobile firewall offering and deployment with LEAP mobile should be ready within the next 6 months.
