I have switched finally to Godaddy for these reasons. 1 If you are running a Wordpress website on 1and1 you are only allowed 100 mb for website towards memory for plugins, so if you plan to run a lot of plugins as I do you will end up with messages stating you are out of memory plugin failure. Godaddy allow 1gb for each website, and I have never had an issue with memory.2 Godaddy is a USA based company providing employment her in America. ( Support USA) I can clearly understand the technicians, and support has greatly improved.1and1 is outsourced to the Philippines, with technicians who barely speak broken english (hard to understand) and are very incompetent in helping you resolve your issue, 60% of the time.3. My site has been down several times at 1and1, and I have never had this problem at godaddy.4. 1and1 has very slow servers, site will crawl. Godaddy has better servers and site open much faster. 1and1 cares about quantity of customers instead of quality, customer support is only during business hours, Godaddy is 24/7. They both have technical support 24/7.Hands down I would recommend Goddady and I tell all my clients to stay clear of 1and1. And No I don't work for Godaddy, I have over 20 domains and 12 websites hosted with them.

I have had Godaddy, and 1and1, twice, yes twice. I do custom web development and what I have found is that GoDaddy is way too focused on their "domain parking" customers and send way too much spam. Also, if you look carefully at their policy, once you give them your information you can NEVER be removed from their marketing mail list. I got tired of getting a ton of e-mails for dead web sites (my own and customers). Their pushy marketing was just a little too over the top for me.

I am switching away from GoDaddy.com to 1and1. I eventually switched all accounts to 1and1.comSupport at 1and1.com has gotten Much better-assuming you can understand them. The number is also toll free. They always lag behind in technology- I would like .net 3.5 support(who knows when they will get it).Dealing with billing and tracking multiple client accounts can be troublesome- they need better software.1and1.com developers package claims server priority. I ask godaddy if they had any stats and the tech/sales rep. was clueless. I wish there were some hard performance statistics available.1and1 also had maps/directions software. Godaddy has forum and other community software. So it really depends which functions are more valuable to you.

I’ve had used both hosts over the years.
